is able to sync between one and four compatible FirePro Graphics cards using genlock or Framelock. Genlock is common in broadcast video applications, and can be generated internally or come from an external “house” source via a BNC sync input. Framelook, meanwhile, is specific to computer graphics, combining output lock (synchronized display output) and 3D swap lock (simultaneous 3D buffer swapping) to ensure multiple GPUs in the connected systems present their outputs in lock-step. This is useful if images from multiple display outputs are being aggregated into one image. The card features dual RJ-45 ports so that daisy-chaining can be used to extend synchronization across multiple computers.

With high-end performance and dedicated features, the AMD FirePro S400 synchronization module allows selected AMD FirePro graphics cards to be used in demanding applications that require synchronization to external sources (Genlock) or synchronization of 3D rendering of multiple GPUs in different systems (Framelock).
It allows for connecting multiple computers and their GPUs together, allowing for multiple channels of 3D-rendered content to be presented simultaneously and in lock-step. On board logic is dedicated to Genlock and Framelock functionality, helping to ensure accurate and consistent synchronization for all applications. The support for up to four GPUs per mode enables high density of workstation GPUs in a system. The house sync capability through the BNC input ensures it’s genlockable to nearly any source. Plus, the AMD FirePro S400 comes in a single-slot form-factor, and supports field upgradeable firmware.
